The video has been taken last December 1, 2018 at the College of Theology. I did not make it to teach Sabbath School at PIC because there is a special event and a lot of people attended.

The video includes the narratives on the preparation the day before the actual teaching, the actual teaching and activity, clips of the reflection of the participants, summary of the event and some photos of the evaluation, quiz and attendance sheet.

The participants of the Sabbath School teaching
Most of the student got higher score on our 10 item quiz
because we have review first before we took the quiz and sharing and reflection has been done prior to the quiz.

It helps them to remember the things we discuss a while ago and the retention of the information is high because of the application of the new acquired information.

9 out of 11 students got perfect in our short quiz. It shows that they really understood the lesson.

Evaluation was given after the over all teaching.  I requested them to stay for 2-3 minutes to answer the Evaluation form for further improvement the next time I teach them.

8 out of 11 students Strongly agree that  the teacher is well-organized and prepare for class. Only 3 of them answered agree

most of the comments are positive and they give praise to the teacher and show their appreciation.

The attendance sheet was given to them while the discussion is on-going as it was reflected in the lesson plan, after the prayer it should be introduce to the student.

Only 11 person participated the Sabbath School Lesson study, because it was around 3:00 pm and suppose to be they are doing AY program but I insisted to teach them SS Lesson.

Good thing, they participated.

REFLECTION:

The Principles of Teaching helps me to broaden my perspective in teaching.  It helps me in many ways like, discipline in doing your homework on time, in submitting your homework with quality and not only just to pass the grade but also with comprehension.

Attending the class on time is very challenging, because it was so early in the morning.  This subject matter helps me also to have a better time management and time matrix pattern to follow and do not delay anythings on schedule.

Inside the class, I learn a lot of principles that enable me to appreciate teaching more.  I started to erase the wrong thinking about being a teacher and the teaching profession.  I started to understand the importance of this work and modify my behavior on how to look at teaching ministry.

After knowing all of the teaching principles, classroom management, and so on.  I realize that teaching is not just a profession but it is a ministry. A great work that changes the future not only with the student but in a wider point of view.

I really learn how to make objectives, although  I need to practice more but, I can say that, I know how to do it. Lesson plan making is really challenging because of so much conflict of requirements with other requirements. But after doing and successfully finishing everything. I feels so nice to know how to do the lesson plan.

Furthermore, in the actual teaching it was really great.  Teaching them while thinking how to apply the theories you learn inside the class is really nice.  I started to love teaching even though I am not a Education major.

Thank you for the a great semester with this course. Kodos to all teachers! :D

It was a blessing, specially for me because been a sabbath school teacher is not just a matter of teaching, it is so much more than this, it is learning and be connect with God. I learned a lot on those lessons and I was also able to see how far we are from God when we don´t have time for him.

In most cases, such as the moon or a mirror, the work of reflection isn’t work at all. The moon is just a satellite hanging out around a planet—in the right spot at the right time. Some say, “The moon is beautiful tonight!” The moon is beautiful every night, but it is the light of the sun that makes the moon even noticeable.

Is that the way it is with you? Or maybe reflecting God’s goodness is a lot like being a mirror. While some of us may be dusty or dirty, we have the potential to reflect Christ to others. What will that reflection be like? Our world has clouded up and obscured a clear picture of what God is like. God is ultimately calling on you and me to be the reflection of Him other people can see.

Graham Tomlin, in his book The Power of the Cross: Theology and the Death of Christ in Paul, Luther and Pascal, says that, “The unity of the church is grounded not just in Christ, but in Christ crucified for them.

Christ’s death for them places them in a relationship of belonging and interdependence to him and to each other.” Ellen G. White says, “Unity with Christ establishes a bond of unity with one another. This unity is the most convincing proof to the world of the majesty and virtue of Christ, and of His power to take away sin.

Handling these people wasn’t really hard for me, since I know all of them. And since then, I have always wanted to help them in academics and in spiritual.  Before they do not want to go to school and they do not want to go to church but instead hangout and do worldly things. That’s when I realized I needed to pray for them.

They needed some guidance. They needed God. So started talking about them and sharing my experiences on how God changed my life and how He is always there to love me and forgive me despite of everything that I have done. I also told them about how important it is to go to school.

I started praying and praying. Until one day one of them told me that he wants to go back to school and study criminology. The other one wants to pursue her dream to become a doctor. I was so happy that God answered my prayer. The hardest part about handling them is doing my lesson planning on how to make sure that they will be interested and will get some lessons from it. With the help and guidance of my professor and my God, I was able to teach them lessons properly. And I know that it did not only help me, but I know it helped them.

I am so blessed that I get the chance to learn these things not only for my grade but because I know this will help me a lot in the future. I am very sure I will share this to my students.

I want to say thank you for our very own teacher Sir Esguerra. Who help all of us and guided us in our journey.  And also to our Father God who gave me the strength and wisdom to do my requirements. We will surely put this in our heart.

The lesson I learned from this is ,do it not for the sake of grades. But because you want to learn and you want to help.  It is not only effective but it is very satisfying. Seeing the students learn and enjoying the activities that was given.

This is not the end. But only the beginning.
