AUP-CES Center Free Operation Tuli Program

By Jero Adan

The Community Extension Services Center (CES Center) of the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) in collaboration with the College of Nursing (CON) and AUP-Health Service Department conducted an annual “Free Operation Tuli” program for Barangay Hoyo children and other nearby community as well.

The goal of this program is to offer a free circumcision service to the partner and nearby community who does not have the capacity to pay for such service. Circumcision or the “Free Operation Tuli” is usually done during summer time for the reason that children are having their long vacation and have no regular classes.

Through the leadership of Mrs. Eunice M. Carpizo— CES Director, everything is plan and coordinated for good outcome of the said program, with the help of Mrs. Rolyn Cadalig— CES Assistant Director, who initiate the communication to the barangay and other possible matters that will help the program flow effortlessly.

Last summer—May 20, 2015, there are 13 brave little boys who benefited with the program known as “Free Operation Tuli” every parents are so busy convincing their children to be calm and relax to undergo circumcision.
The boys are waiting for their turn to be circumcise.
Anak! Wag kang mag-alala, hindi yan masakit. Parang kagat lang yan ng langgam”, farmer also corn vendor Victor, said to his son.

Other children are so hesitant to go for circumcision that day, you can see it in their cute little eyes that they are afraid, but most of them are courageous enough to do it without fear because of the bullying problem in their schools. Most of them are teasing with the other children, who do not yet circumcision, so they go with it.
Dr. Butch Garcia--the surgeon, assisted by the Health Service staff and nurse, while doing the circumcision.
“Magpapatuli talaga ako kasi pagdating ng pasukan, lulukuhin nanaman ako ng mga kaklase ko na hindi pa tuli kahit na malaki na ako”, Grade six student John-john, said.

Happy to serve the children while doing the operation.
The program would not be successful without the help of the dedicated faculty and staff of the AUP-CES Center, College Of Nursing, and Health Service Department also known as the AUP Clinic.
